No-bake, delicious goodness

Jump to Recipe

These chocolate peanut butter pretzel bars are so easy to make….and no baking is required! Who wants to be in a hot kitchen baking as the weather warms up? Not this chick.

I had two open bags of pretzels leftover from another recipe that I didn’t want to go to waste so I searched Pinterest for a pretzel dessert recipe. I found a recipe at Hostess at Heart that checked all the boxes: peanut butter, chocolate, pretzels, and no-bake. And I had all of the ingredients on hand!

I used two different pretzel shapes for this treat. I used a rolling pin to crush the pretzels in the bag, so I didn’t have to dirty another bowl. (Work smarter, not harder).

Once you have 2 cups of crushed pretzels, combine with the powdered sugar, 1 cup of peanut butter, and the melted butter.

Once the ingredients are thoroughly combined, press the pretzel mixture into the bottom of a 9 x 13 casserole dish. It may not look pretty, but trust me, it is one heck of a tasty treat.

Peanut butter pretzel mixture layered on the bottom of the casserole dish.

The next step is to melt the chocolate chips and the 1/4 cup of peanut butter. I had several bags of opened chocolate chips bags on hand, so I mixed semisweet and milk chocolate chips. Microwave the chocolate chips and peanut butter in 30-second intervals in a microwave-safe bowl.

Pour the melted chocolate chips and peanut butter over the pretzel base, and spread to cover the pretzel crust. As you start to spread, it may seem as though there isn’t enough chocolate to cover the base, but there is.

Let it chill in the refrigerator for one hour before serving. I recommend cutting it into small squares to serve, this simple treat is rich in flavor. A little bit goes a long way.
