We love Asian dishes around our house. But unfortunately, trying to stick to a healthy eating plan and eating take-out doesn’t always mix. So, we try to replicate our favorites at home so we have more control over what we are eating. This teriyaki turkey recipe is so delicious and satisfying, you won’t miss getting takeout.

I found this recipe at Yellowblissroad.com. There are a few steps involved, but totally worth it.

Begin by preparing your veggies. Dice the onions, grate the carrots (food processor works great or opt for a bag of shredded carrots), finely slice the green onion and chop the broccoli.

Next, prepare the teriyaki sauce. Combine the sauce ingredients, except the cornstarch and water, in a small saucepan over medium heat. Dissolve the cornstarch in a small dish using warm water. Slowly whisk the cornstarch into the sauce and let it simmer for a few minutes until it thickens, then remove from heat.

Heat the canola oil in a skillet, then add the diced onions. Cook the onions until tender. Next, add the ground turkey. Cook the turkey and break up the meat while it cooks. Once it is cooked about halfway through, add the broccoli and carrots. Continue to cook for another few minutes, until the meat is cooked through and the veggies are tender. Then add the teriyaki sauce to the skillet. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes to combine all the flavors.

Once it is well combined and warmed through, it is ready to serve. You can eat as is, or serve over rice. We opted to omit the rice (you know, carbs and what not). Top with the sliced green onions and sesame seeds. It is a flavor explosion for your taste buds. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do. It is a frequent meal around here.
